Lifestyle | How to Get Your Kids to Help Around the Home.

Just recently, I have really been feeling the pressure of working full time and keeping a clean home. There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day.
This morning, Lauren started to ask about pocket money - she wants to buy a sewing machine and to have a year's subscription to Xbox Live, apparently.
Well this got me thinking and before I had the chance to say anything, she was already asking me if she could hoover the stairs.  We came to a 'safety compromise' and I agreed that I would let her sweep the stairs instead..
She actually did a brilliant job and was rewarded with a pound for her efforts.  This has since lead to us devising a Household Jobs Menu.

The idea is that Lauren picks jobs she wants to do from the menu and I will pay her to do them.  If, she can't be bothered, for any reason, then she doesn't get paid.  It's as simple as that.
Hopefully, this will help me out around the home and she will learn some financial capability as a result.
We'll see how it goes.
If you would like to print a copy of the menu, you can do so here.

  1. This is a fab idea. My teenager has set jobs to earn his pocket money but it's a great idea to have a menu for if he needs extra money for anything x

    1. We're giving it a try. Anything to get the house cleaner at the moment. It's like a mad house. Thanks for having a read :)
