Review | The Diet Plate - Complete Weight Management System

When the people at The Diet Plate got in touch to ask if I'd like to review their weight management system, I thought it looked really interesting.  Now that Summer is drawing to a close, I've been trying to get back into a healthier way of eating again.  I did lose quite a lot of weight at the end of last year, but we spent three weeks away over summer and my good habits were slightly shelved and replaced by Cornish pasties and too many ice creams.

I have tried diets, in the past, and been pretty successful, but weight does have a tendency to creep back on again. I have learned from my recent weight loss, that portion control and eating only when you are hungry play a massive part in the weight you can lose.

The Diet Plate and Bowl are calibrated to ensure that you don't overfill your plate.  This has been my problem, in the past, piling too much food on.  It is sectioned off into protein, starchy carbohydrates , meat, sauces and cheese and if you stick to the portion sizes, then you should lose weight.

The plate and bowl came with a booklet that explains the system in a clear way.  It explains what the lines are for on the side of the breakfast bowl.  The colours correspond to different breakfast cereals and the recommended portion sizes.  For example the red section is for a portion of Nestle Clusters, but the green section could be used for Kellogg's Honey loops.  The booklet then explains how much milk to use, suggests fruit intake and also substitutes, if you don't fancy cereal for breakfast.

The bowl is also used for soup, salad, yoghurt and dessert portion control.

There is a detailed section, which explains how the sections on the plate work too.  It is interesting to know that you can't cheat and pile the food up high in a particular section, because it will cascade down into an adjacent section! I did wonder about this.

The back of the book is broken down into 8 weekly sections to help you to change your thinking for life.  It covers positive thinking, dietary choices and alcohol consumption, amongst others.

Over the next few weeks, I'm looking forward to trying to get back into a healthier way of eating and The Diet Plate will definitely help me to control the amount I put on my plate, without following a strict diet.
