These educational toys are part of a new range of toys by Pic 'n Mix, available exclusively on Amazon. They couldn't have arrived at a better time, for us to review, as Harry and Matthew have just started school nursery and we are all trying to work on their 'sitting down and concentrating skills'.
Pic 'n Mix toys are meant to develop visual perception, creativity and imagination and fine motor skills all while your child is having fun.
We received two games to try from the range of six currently available on Amazon here.
We received Funny Shapes and Funny Transport. I'm going to focus on the Funny Transport game for the purpose of this review.
The games come in a sturdy and handy plastic transparent box with a little handle. My first thought was that it would be ideal for taking out and about and keeping children happy while waiting for a meal in a restaurant, as a change to colouring in.
I also like how the box gives a place to store the pieces at the end, so they don't get lost - so many toy manufacturers don't think about storage when they make toys, so this is quite refreshing.
When I opened the game up, I was so impressed with the thickness and quality of the pieces. They are made from a water resistant plastic type material, with a Velcro backing piece to make some of the pieces into Smart Stickers.
The objective of the games is for your little one to choose a game board and then find it's matching card which shows how the finished game board should look, after your child has added the pieces to make the picture.
So in this example, there is a car and caravan board that is incomplete. The picture card at the side, shows what the game board should look like at the end and then there are pieces for your child to choose from and stick on to match up. You could make the 'sticker' choosing as easy or as challenging as you like, by simply adding or removing more stickers for your child to use.
When I say 'stickers', these pieces will obviously last longer than normal stickers, because of the material they are made out of and the velcro backing. They are also so colourful and there is a range of 5 boards to work on, so just enough, before your child might want to move on to something else. I also like the idea that twins can work alongside each other, to master the same skills - so much easier from a twin mum perspective.
Harry and Matthew did find them quite a challenge to begin with, hence the lack of photographs of them playing, but I'm sure that given time, they'll soon get the hang of how to play it, while learning at the same time.
I haven't been sent the clock game, but the one on Amazon, looks really good for helping children with telling the time.
These games range from £9.99 - £12.99 and are aimed at children aged 3 - 7. They are a perfect stocking filler or present, if you are already thinking about Christmas. I am very impressed and have plans to now buy more.
