You can tell it's January, because the photos are dire. There has been virtually no light shining into Lauren's bedroom, this weekend, which is a shame because she has just had the whole room transformed over the past week or so and these pictures just don't do it justice. Boooo to January murkiness! Anyway, I am still very happy with how it has all turned out and so is she, which is all that matters. On Sunday, we added the finishing touches including a gorgeous new duvet and pillow from Silentnight.
When Silentnight asked if we would like to try one of their complete bed sets, we jumped at the chance, because we knew that Lauren's room was due a make-over and it would come in handy, we hoped! There's always the risk that it might not be as good, but on this occasion, I was very happy with the first impressions.
The whole set came in a neat drawstring bag consisting of a 10.5 tog single duvet, 1 pillow and a mattress protector. When I took it out of the bag, I liked the texture of the material that the duvet and pillow were made from. They were made of a cotton type material in a brilliant white and felt very soft. I was so glad that they weren't made from that cheap material that feels rough against the skin and catches on even the smoothest hands. Yuck!
After a quick shake the Silentnight duvet sprung into life and felt very light and fluffy, as did the pillow. The pillow was quite soft though, which Lauren didn't seem to mind, but I prefer a firmer pillow, if I'm being completely honest.
The duvet covering is actually made from 100% microfibre with a 100% hollowfibre filling. It is non-allergenic, which is always good to know. It is also machine washable at 40 degrees and even tumble dryer friendly.
The mattress protector was a little disappointing, because it came as a flat rectangular piece that covered the top of the mattress only and was held on with 4 elastics that sit on the 4 corners of the bed. I imagine that it will work lose quite quickly and end up crumpled up under the fitted sheet, but we will see, so far so good. In fact Silentnight hope the customer will have a perfect, cosy sleep environment and Lauren was very happy when she woke up this morning. She had no complaints at all about the set.
If you would like to buy a Silentnight Complete Bed Set, I have seen a variety of on-line retailers selling it and it seems to be around £24.99 to buy, for the single set. It is also available in double and king size too.
