Feel Fab '15

Feel Fab '15 is my little 'brain-wave' moment that I had over New Year.  I am hoping to use this space to record anything and everything that makes me feel better in 2015.

In the past, if I have lost weight or improved an aspect of my appearance, I find that it always feels better, if others notice the change.  Now, I realise that this is slightly different in that I am 'shouting' about it on here, but for me the principle will hopefully be the same and I will feel more motivated to continue throughout the year. That's the plan anyway. Life has a habit of getting in the way of my 'brain-waves' so I cannot promise any major longevity with this project.  I just plan to see how it goes.  I plan to write as and when I feel like it. If I set myself a regular day of the week to post on, then I will find it a chore and that will defeat the object.

Expect to find information about my weight loss (hopefully), beauty/ pampering information, staying organised, nice things I have bought and so on. It's not a bragging tool, just a place to remind myself really, about all the good things in life, as I find it hard to focus on the positive, at times.

Sunday 15th February 2015
Today I thought I would share my new nail secret.  For years, before Harry and Matthew came along, I paid a lot of money every 2-3 weeks to get my nails done at a beauty place.  It used to take about 1 hour and I loved how they looked.  Anyway, for one reason or another, I stopped getting them done.
For a couple of years I have just painted my own nails.  The condition of them has varied over this time, but at the moment, they are not great.  A couple of weeks ago, I went to Edinburgh for a Hen Party.  I wanted nice nails, but didn't have time, more than anything else, to go and get them done.
So I looked on the Boots website and off I went to purchase a set of false nails.  The brand was Kiss.  If you look at the picture below, it came with the glue and a box of 100 nails in different sizes, for about £6.00.

The black set is from home bargains for £1.29.  I don't know what the glue is like in that kit, but the Kiss glue is available separately for £2.99 and is absolutely brilliant.
These nails were applied for the Hen Party and lasted me for 2 weeks afterwards.  2 pinged off after about a week, but I kept the glue in my bag and just re-applied them with ease.  I am mega impressed!
The good thing about these kits is that the nails come in 10 different sizes so you can custom them to fit your own hands, like in the salon.
Take a look at the set I have just done today.  It took me 20 minutes including polish.
Freshly applied, before trimming.  I used the pink False Nail Cutter from Home Bargains for 99p, to trim them shorter.  Although, last time, I kept them this length.
After clipping them down, I rounded the edges and applied the polish.
Ta da! The finished result.  Possibly a bit shorter than I like, but it's the first time I 've used the cutter.  I am confident that I'll get a couple of weeks out of these with maybe just 1 or 2 fix ups.
Bargain and time saving.
What more do you want?

Saturday 24th January 2015
Well, I'm not doing too great with sticking to the diet, but seeing as this is Feel Fab '15, I'm not going to moan about that here.

To try to get more motivated, I have purchased the T25 workout DVD this week and also, bought some gym gear from George at ASDA.  The intention is to workout for 25 minutes, when Harry and Matthew are in bed.  Lauren and I gave it a go, on Wednesday and it was good that you could see the countdown timer in the corner of the screen and that there were two levels of difficulty. I am starting with the low impact version.

I have also looked on Pinterest for a workout calendar for T25 and found one that looks great, in principal, I don't know about reality, because it is a combined cardio and running planner.  If you are interested take a look here.
What I'm Burning This Week
I am Burning Yankee Candle Amber Moon.  It is really lovely and the throw from the wax tart, is up there with the more powerful ones I have had before. It has amber, sandalwood and patchouli scents and is one I will buy again.
Things I Have Bought
All of these items were purchased in Poundland.  They may seem a bit random, but there is a story behind each one.
First up, is the garden sign. I read about somebody having one of these last summer, and I wanted one.  The idea is that it is placed near your front door when you are in the garden, so that if anybody knocks, they know to try round the back.  It is made from slate and I think it looks much more expensive than it really is.
Next, are the embellished daisies.  Poundland are stocking more and more of this type of thing at the moment.  They are really relevant to me at the moment as I am trying to get my Project Life Album up and running.  I bought the album about a year ago, for about £20.00 and as yet it is collecting dust.  I am hoping these may spur me on a bit.
And last, but not least, I have bought this 8 x 10 inch frame.  Over on my Pinterest pages, I have pinned some Vision Board ideas. I would like to create one to remind myself of my goals.  If you can see your goals, I think it makes it more achievable.
Next Week.
I am going to Edinburgh, next Saturday, for a Hen Party.  I can't wait.  This means that I will have to be kind to myself in advance and set aside some time for preening, in the run up to the event.  That's the thing at the moment, though, time.  When it's dark, it's too easy to put it off until tomorrow, but I don't want to do this for this weekend away.
Thought for the week
How did your week go?

Saturday 10th January 2015
This week has been a good week, in the sense that I am back into my routine.  I haven't started the diet yet, but plan to do so on Monday.  The reason is because of the amount of Christmas stuff we still had to get rid of. It would aggravate the life out of me, if it was still in the cupboard and stop me from sticking to it.
The plan I follow is Weight Watchers, but I follow the old points program not the pro-points.  They probably both work as well as each other, but I know old points works best for me, as I have lost weight before on it.  Last year, I lost one and a half stone, but I have put some back on, so need to do something about it.  I'm not sure of my exact weight, but will get weighed on Monday and I imagine that I need to lose about 2 stone, to be really happy. Eek!
What I'm Burning This Week.
This was bought for me as a gift, at Christmas.  It's the first large jar I have ever owned, as they are expensive.  It is described as 'the crisp, winter forest scent of ice covered pine branches with tingly notes of spicy cinnamon.' on the Yankee website and it seems very fitting for cold January nights.
What have I bought?
I couldn't resist a visit to Primark today to pick a few things up. This nail varnish is from there and was priced at 80p, yes 80p! I love the sparkle detail in it.  It will need a couple of coats, but it looks gorgeous.
Another 80p bargain was this candle.  Again, from Primark, It smells just as the label suggests and I'm hoping that the throw is just as good as the Christmas ones they sold, because it was great for the price.
The boots are not from Primark, but a local shoe shop in town. £20.00 and I love the gold buckle detail on them.
Things I made an effort with!
My feet. Don't worry, I won't show you a picture! My mum bought me one of those battery operated foot files for Christmas and I have been using that.  It really has made a difference to the softness of my feet and I can highly recommend it.
My thought for next week is...
Hope you had a good week too.
Saturday 3rd January 2015

Well, I don't know about you, but I am getting sick of Christmas Yankee scents, so I went to my local stockist yesterday, to update my collection for the next few weeks.  I always feel better when my Yankees are burning in the lounge.

Another 'feel good' thing I have done is treated myself to a new Family Life Book from Organised-Mum.co.uk.

I love the stickers this comes with.  They 'pretty up' the pages very well.  I also love how the week is spread out into columns with a to-do list and a meal idea section.  There's also some detachable shopping lists at the back.  I Will be organised!

I want to be more organised with clutter in 2015 so I've had a quick (2hour) look on Pinterest and found a site with a 15 minute de-cluttering calendar which is set out into monthly 'missions'.  Looks quite do-able to me.

Add to this, the date night I had with hubby last night and I feel like I'm well on my way to a good start in 2015, so far.

  1. A fab idea, I really need to focus on the good things. 2015 is going to be a great year

    1. I Hope so. I am hoping positivity is the key for me this year. Thanks for reading.

  2. This is a brilliant idea - love it!! I still need to get my resolutions sorted :) Mim :) #SundayStars

    1. Thanks. I'll see how it goes. Me and resolutions aren't good. It takes me until mid-January before I can face any big changes like diets etc. Good luck with yours.

  3. Great idea, hope 2015 turns out to be as great as you hope

  4. I am the same, I find if I write things down I am more likely to do them! Especially on a blog where all can see! Have a great 2015, thanks for linking up with #sundaystars

    1. That's the thing, where all can see! We must be mad! Thanks for reading.

  5. Wow Julia ... what a practical and SMART idea. All the best with it. I've pinned the calendar too, I'll look through later and perhaps try out some of its ideas. I'm trying to start a 'sort a paper pile out a day'; I have so many of them. And the organised mum diary, they're such fun; I love the stickers too. Consistently using a diary is something I'm trying to do this year too. Wow ... so much to do but we must start somewhere.

Thanks for sharing and all the very best with your lovely project, I look forward to reading more about what is making you feel fab in 2015! Perhaps you might start a 'Feel Fab 2015' linky :-) #SundayStars

    1. I had a nightmare with those buttons. They are from carrieloves.com they needed manipulating in picmonkey and then I had to alter a load of HTML code I eventually found on a website, to make them work. Sorry, I can't be of any more use to you. Thanks for stopping by.
